The BEST Macaroni and Cheese

If you’re looking for a super fancy mac and cheese recipe that uses fourteen different cheeses and takes an hour to make and costs a fortune, this is NOT the recipe for you. This recipe is a super simple, inexpensive crowd pleaser that takes under 20 minutes to make. I’ve made this for SO MANY people over the years! And every single time I make it for someone new, they ask me for the recipe. Without fail. When I tell people how easy it is, they never believe me. This recipe is NOT too good to be true! It really is so easy but SO good. And only three ingredients! Sometimes I can’t find the secret ingredient – Cheez Whiz – or I just don’t feel like going to the store. So instead of using Cheez Whiz, I use half a block of Velveeta. I promise they both work great! I also switch up the pasta depending on what I have at home. Elbow macaroni, cavatappi, and shells all work great.

  1. Cook macaroni according to package directions. Make sure to salt your pasta water! Drain, but save some of the pasta water
  2. Add macaroni back to pot and add Cheez Whiz and cheese curds if using.
  3. If macaroni is too thick, add some of the pasta water.
  4. That’s it! Enjoy!
